Introduction

Koro located 330 km from the capital city of Uganda Kampala in the district of Gulu found in Northern Uganda. Koro maarifa centre is found on Kampala high way, 9km from Gulu Town.the centre is hosted by a school, Koro Senoir Secondary School and we are based in their compond. the area was formaly an IDP Camp where all the displaced persons as aresult of the 21 yr old war were located.it hosted thousands and thousands of people during that time and at the moment many people have gone back to their homes leaving it sparcly populated as the ocupants are trying to recover.The major activity that takes place in the area is mainly farming, though not on a large scale.

About the Centre

Koro maarifa center goes beyond providing free access to computer services and internet usage to the community, but also acknowledges the primary activity of the community in which they work in. we work with different groups in the community especially the farming groups.
we give them information and also encourage the to come and search from the internet all that they need to improve on their economic activities. As for the farmers we give them training on best farming practices to help them get high yields and how to work with the ever changing climate.

Internet in the village

Koro village like any other village has joined the world of internet in a bigger way.we are currently having the best and fastest internet i must say, powered by vsat.this will help our beneficieries connect more with others and hence learn more too.
this is the first of its kind initiative in this area and a number of people are impressed with the initiative.due to this, many school are also benefiting from the centre starting from the school adminstration down to the students/ pupils.
